Tanner Update:

Tanner is still writing and performing his brand of folk music. He's been at it since the 1970's. In 2010, Tanner united with friends Jeanine Yeager and Kevin Haney forming "Beneath The Salt".

In 2010, Beneath The Salt made its debut as a musical entity and also released the BTS springboard CD, appropriately titled "The Heart Of A Knight". All songs recorded on the CD are original compositions with the exception of the traditional ballad "Red Is The Rose".

The CD has been very well received and acclaimed. Preliminary sales exceeded BTS expectations. Thanks to everyone for supporting the music!

The tracks from the CD "The Heart Of A Knight" are provided in the player on this page for your listening pleasure. The CD can be purchased at Loveland Castle, Loveland Ohio. All proceeds from CDs purchased at the Castle are donated for the benefit of the Castle and Museum which is managed and maintained by the KOGT.

In 2011, Tanner and BTS will be performing at Loveland Castle, Loveland, OH on select "3rd Saturdays", April thru October.

Tanner and BTS will also be returning to the Ohio Renaissance Festival in Harveysburg, OH, weekends September and October. More shows...New Stages!

Listen To The BTS CD: The Heart Of A Knight

"They Call Me Tanner":

Ray Smeltzer is Tanner

Ray has been writing and performing his brand of folk music for over 35 years. He's been at it since the 1970's, having performed solo and with various bands thru the years. (Transport, The Lumbards, JustUs, Minstrel Woode, Beneath The Salt)

Many of his original songs are contemporary in mood and content, although Ray's interest in the Renaissance Festivals and Re-enactments has inspired him to compose the songs and ballads that he refers to as his "New Songs of Olde". The songs are often "story-songs". These "story" songs are often included in performances at more contemporary venues as well as the historical events.

The late Folk Artist, Harry Chapin has been a major influence in Ray's musical delivery and style. In fact, on occassion Ray can be found presenting his one-man concert, "Harry and Me"

These days Ray generally performs at Festivals and Historical Re-enactment Events, Coffeehouses and other music venues.
